According to a Mexican journalist, West Ham United are set to complete the signing of Javier Hernandez by early next week.

Sergio Dipp revealed via his Twitter account that Javier Hernandez will be presented as a West Ham United player on Monday.

Javier Hernandez has been West Ham’s top striker target for some time now and his proposed move to East London is edging closer.

The Mexican international has scored 39 goals in his two seasons with German Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen and he also fits the bill with a proven Premier League track record.

The 29-year-old was previously at Manchester United and he could be set for a return to the Premier League imminently, if these reports are to be believed.

West Ham are in the market for at least one new striker this summer due to the persistent injury problems that Diafra Sakho and Andy Carroll face.

Enner Valencia has been sold to Tigres and youthful duo Ashley Fletcher and Toni Martinez are still learning their trade.

Hernandez would provide a proven goal scoring record, experience and Premier League nous.

West Ham United are expecting to make strides in their search for a striker soon and Hernandez could be a Hammer by as soon as Monday.
