The last few months have been pretty difficult.

Injuries to Dimitri Payet, Winston Reid, Victor Moses, Manuel Lanzini and Diafra Sakho crippled us across November and December, but somehow we managed to remain relatively unbeaten – we only lost to Spurs.

However, Manuel Lanzini’s return to the side in the second half against Southampton gave us a huge boost and enable us to turn the game around and grab all three points. What a huge boost his return proved to give us.

And now it looks as if we could be welcoming back three more key players in the new year, with David Gold confirming on Twitter earlier that there’s an outside chance Reid, Moses and, more importantly, Payet could return for the the visit of Liverpool…

That should give us an ever bigger chance of starting 2016 in style by completing the double over Liverpool for the first time in well over 50 years.

Gold later added that he hopes every player will be available for selection against Liverpool, apart from Diafra Sakho…

…and that Slaven Bilic will never rush a player back from injury – this is reassuring, particularly after the issues that cause when Allardyce kept rushing Andy Carroll back from injury…
