West Ham completed a number of deals during the summer but the Hammers did not land everybody they set their sights on.

The Daily Mail reports that Manuel Pellegrini’s side were unsuccessful in their attempts to lure Marcus Bettinelli to the London Stadium from Fulham.

Bettinelli played a crucial part in the Cottagers’ promotion-winning campaign last season but is said to be eyeing an exit before the end of the month after being overlooked by Slavisla Jokanovic for the opening weekend’s defeat to Crystal Palace.

The signings of Fabri and Sergio Rico have seen the former England U21 international plummet down the pecking order at Craven Cottage and he may now regret rejecting the chance to move across London to West Ham.

In the end, the Hammers signed Poland international Lukasz Fabianski from relegated Swansea City to become their new first-choice goalkeeper but he did not have a debut to remember, conceding four in Sunday’s defeat to Liverpool.
