The new Premier League season is upon us and West Ham have a rejuvenated squad at the disposal of Manuel Pellegrini.
Former Manchester City boss Pellegrini has invested heavily in bolstering his ranks during the close season, landing a wealth of new additions that includes Andriy Yarmolenko, Felipe Anderson, Issa Diop and Jack Wilshere.
Deals for Lucas Perez and Carlos Sanchez are said to be on the horizon, with the pair likely to bring an end to the Hammers’ activity, and Pellegrini is ‘very happy’ with the business the club have completed.
Speaking at Sky Sports’ Premier League launch show, the Chilean boss said:
“[I’m] Very happy because all the players are here because I asked for them,”
“We have good players, technical players. We need to improve our defending but we need creating players because for me, the best way to defend is to keep the ball. We bought Wilshere, Anderson and Yarmolenko to do that.”
Pellegrini should certainly be thrilled with the signings the Hammers have made during the close season, which provide a breath of fresh air across the squad.
