On this day in 2007, Carlos Tevez scored THAT goal at Old Trafford to ensure our Premier League survival.
It was a victory that completed The Greatest Escape from the relegation zone, and we all know the fall out that ensued with Sheffield United.
Yet despite everything that followed, it is a day that will live long in the memory as Carlos Tevez sent Sheffield United crashing down to the Championship. The scenes at the full-time whistle will live long in the memory of every West Ham that remembers it.
Eight years on, the club’s official account tweeted about that day’s glory this morning to remind us all of Tevez and how he saved us from a complete and utter nightmare. Had we gone down that year, we probably would’ve been finished.
But while we happily looked back at the good times, Manchester United’s official Twitter account piped up and reminded us that they won the league on the day too, despite us beating and completing the double over them.
United’s recent struggles have clearly had them trying to muscle in on everyone else’s limelight…
