West Ham fans have endured a long and tiring saga relating to Portugal midfielder William Carvalho and it seems a conclusion is on the cards.
However, it may not be the finale that West Ham fans were hoping for as The Sun cites reports that indicate Premier League rivals Manchester United and Arsenal lead the chase.
Sporting Lisbon could be braced to lose the services of Carvalho for nothing following shocking scenes earlier this year, where a group of fans stormed the training ground and attacked the players.
A number of Sporting stars have now exercised their right to cancel their contracts in Lisbon, citing just cause, including goalkeeper Rui Patricio – who sealed a move to newly-promoted Wolves.
Interest in the services of the 26-year-old are high and there is plenty of clubs on the continent eyeing a deal, including AC Milan, Atletico Madrid, Monaco, Marseille and Porto.
With the calibre of clubs said to be in the market for Carvalho, West Ham will face a difficult time securing a deal.
