West Ham United’s struggles this season do not look quite so bad on paper as the Hammers secured an 11th place finish on the final day of the season.
Heavily depleted with numerous first team injuries, West Ham travelled to Turf Moor to take on a Burnley side who pride themselves on being hard to beat at home.
West Ham’s challenge only got harder when Sam Vokes fired Burnley into a first half lead but Sofiane Feghouli grabbed a well-taken equaliser to take us into the break at 1-1.
In the second half, Andre Ayew popped up in the right place at the right time to claim all three points and ensure West Ham finished just one point behind 8th place.
Considering the issues with injuries, summer recruitment and teething problems at the London Stadium, 11th place does not look too bad for West Ham, especially as relegation was a real threat for much of this season.
The West Ham players took to social media after the game to post end of season messages and here are a selection of their tweets.
