West Ham are seeking to land prime targets in the transfer window but it seems they’ll face a huge battle getting deals over the line.

The Hammers have been widely attributed with interest in Stoke City ace Xherdan Shaqiri, who has made it clear he wants to leave the Potters after their relegation to the Championship.

However, West Ham will face a stern test to win the battle for the Switzerland international, currently preparing for the World Cup in Russia with his nation, as a Premier League giant are also keen.

The Daily Mirror states defeated Champions League finalists Liverpool are targeting a move for the winger and will seek to conclude a deal after the World Cup.

With a reported clause of just £12m in his contract being active following the club’s relegation, Shaqiri could prove to be a bargain addition for either side and West Ham will hope the offer of more first-team guarantees will be enough to tempt him to the London Stadium.
