West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini is in the market for further defensive recruits following an injury setback sustained by Winston Reid but there is bad news in the hunt for one particular target.

Turkish outlet Aspor claims that Liverpool and reached an agreement with Croatia international Domagoj Vida on a two-year deal.

The 29-year-old impressed at the World Cup for his nation, where Croatia were defeated in the final by France, and has attracted a wealth of interest in his services.

Liverpool are seeking Vida’s signature to bolster their defensive ranks but will have to meet Besiktas’ £22m valuation if a transfer is to go ahead.

That fee is a price that Jurgen Klopp’s side can easily afford, whereas West Ham may have to offload before securing further signings after embarking on a major spending spree already this summer.

TransferMarkt states West Ham have spent in excess of £85m this summer to capture the likes of Felipe Anderson, Issa Diop and Andriy Yarmolenko.
