West Ham have enjoyed a busy and exciting transfer window, with numerous new faces drafted into the London Stadium.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side begin the 2018-19 campaign with a tough test away from home against Champions League finalists Liverpool but will hope their new recruits lead them to glory.

The Hammers are likely to hand debuts to the likes of Felipe Anderson, Jack Wilshere and Andriy Yarmolenko – although BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson does not believe it will be enough to overcome Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Making his weekly Premier League predictions, Lawrenson tipped Liverpool to emerge as comfortable 2-0 victors.

“Both of these teams have had a busy summer in the transfer market and, after struggling last season, West Ham have got to be aiming for the top 10 this time.

“Liverpool are aspiring to finish a bit higher, obviously, and when I look at the signings that all the teams have made, they look like they have done the best business.

“I think the Reds will push City for the title this season and I am backing them to begin with a win.”
