West Ham United target Jermain Defoe is demanding hefty sums of money this summer.

The London Evening Standard understands that Jermain Defoe will ask for a £6m signing on fee and will demand £100,000 per week in wages if West Ham are to sign him.

Defoe started his career with West Ham United and went on to carve out a successful career at Portsmouth and Tottenham mainly.

The 34-year-old has recently been playing for Sunderland and has been targeted by West Ham over the past few transfer windows to no avail.

Now that the Black Cats have been relegated, despite Defoe’s haul of 15 league goals, they are set to lose him for free due to a clause in his contract.

However, he will not cost West Ham or Bournemouth nothing to sign him.

Defoe is looking to make a financial gain from any potential move and is demanding a £6m signing on fee.

In addition to that, the England international wants to become one of the highest paid players at West Ham on £100k per week wages.

It is unclear yet whether West Ham will be put off with these demands from the veteran forward.
