The Nuno Espirito Santo era at West Ham has begun in encouraging fashion.

On Monday night, the Hammers earned a hard-fought 1-1 draw against in-form Everton — a result that not only delivered a valuable point but also showed clear signs of improvement after a dismal start to the campaign under Graham Potter, who was sacked last week.

Michael Keane put Everton ahead in the first half, but Jarrod Bowen struck back in the 65th minute to secure the draw.

More importantly, the performance looked sharper, more organised, and filled with renewed energy under their new boss.

And according to Bowen, the credit lies firmly with Nuno.

Speaking after the match, the England international revealed just how much of an impact the Portuguese manager has already had in only a few days of working with the squad.

“I’ve been so impressed with him so far, with the way he manages himself and what he wants and demands from the team,” Bowen said. “I think we’ve all bought into that, and I think the performance tonight was a credit to him.”

Bowen added that both he and his teammates are “all excited to work with him” given his previous record in the Premier League with Wolves and Nottingham Forest.

Santo, of course, guided Wolves to back-to-back seventh-place finishes before taking Forest into European competition for the first time in more than 30 years.

“Everyone’s seen what he did at Forest last year, pushing for the Champions League, and getting into the Europa League,” Bowen continued. “It’s not long ago that we played him, and now he’s our gaffer, so after tonight I think we’re even more excited for the future in front of us.”

For Bowen and West Ham, it’s the kind of start they were desperate for — and one they’ll be hoping Nuno can build upon in the weeks ahead.
