Watford have completed the signing Andre Gray from Burnley.

West Ham United had targeted Andre Gray this summer but Watford’s official website has announced the signing of the Burnley marksman.

Watford have beat West Ham to this striker target.

The Hornets have snapped up Andre Gray for an undisclosed fee, although it has been confirmed that the figure is a club record transfer sum.

Andre Gray underwent a medical and agreed personal terms today, finalising his switch from the Clarets.

The 26-year-old, who scored nine Premier League goals last term, was unhappy at Burnley and had turned down a new contract.

The former Luton Town and Brentford striker is also going to earn his previous clubs some windfall money with this big move too.

It is unclear whether West Ham will try to buy another striker after landing number one target Javier Hernandez.

The back-up options of Andy Carroll, Diafra Sakho and Toni Martinez look fine on paper but Carroll and Sakho spend large periods of time out injured and Martinez is still young and inexperienced.

An injury to Chicharito could damage all hopes of success next season and we might be forced into playing someone like Andre Ayew up front if a back-up striker is not signed.
