The one thing that was so impressive about our win over Aston Villa in mid-week was the way in which we didn’t panic and starting doing reckless things in order to find the opening goal.

In years gone by we’ve seen us run out of ideas and then either settle for a draw or ultimately lose to a last minute goal against the run of play. But the players remained calm, composed and were ultimately rewarded for their patience.

Now we’re five points clear of seventh placed Southampton and we could really put ourselves in a solid position for a top six spot with all three points against the Saints this weekend.

It’s not going to be an easy game, though. They haven’t conceded in their last four meetings and are beginning to look like the Saints side that impressed everyone last term.

We should be boosted by the return of Andy Carroll, though – he loves a goal against Southampton.

But here’s how we might line up against Ronald Koeman’s side on Saturday…
