We should welcome Alex Song and Diafra Sakho to the starting line up after Sam Allardyce decided to leave them on the bench against Chelsea.

That could prove to be a hugely important decision, with Arsenal being a much easier proposition than a rampant Chelsea.

Kevin Nolan is failing to impress in midfield again and should be dropped, with Song coming in and then Stewart Downing returning to the middle of the park after being shoved back out to the wing on Boxing Day.

That said, there’s probably more chance of West Ham finishing in fourth than Allardyce dropping his love-child Nolan.

Carl Jenkinson isn’t allowed to play his parent club, so Guy Demel is expected to slot in for just his sixth appearance of the season.
