West Ham have enquired about the availability of Besiktas striker Hugo Almeida, according to talkSPORT.

Manager Sam Allardyce is desperately in the market for a striker to cover the injured Andy Carroll and it is believed Besiktas are willing to sell the 29-year-old Portuguese forward, pricing him at £3million.

Almeida’s contract is due to expire next summer and he has previously expressed his desire to play in the Premier League.

The former Porto and Werder Bremen striker has scored 24 goals in 57 league appearances for the Turkish club.
