So who said we weren’t capable of being exciting, then?

Trouble is, if the season so far is anything to go by, being exciting only seems to be the order of the day when we’re away from the Boleyn Ground.

We played well at home to Spurs on the opening day of the season, but we weren’t exactly exciting. But the 3-1 win over Palace at Selhurst Park and last night’s 2-2 draw with Hull were the types of performances we have effectively been starved of for so long.

There are so many positives to take from last night’s game. It took a while to get going but, when we did, we always looked like scoring and would’ve been worthy winners had Enner Valencia’s header in the 95th minute not bounced off Michael Dawson’s chest (or was it his arm?), on to the the bar and then over for a corner.

But it was Valencia’s stunning goal that kind of hit home just how good we can be and how good this season has the potential to become should we continue to play with such intent and belief.

Defensively we weren’t great, with mistakes effectively costing us all three points, but that’s just typical West Ham for you. Despite this, it was an exciting game that had the fans on the edge of their seat from start to finish.
