Just when you thought our chances of signing a top striker had passed us by, a welcome twist brings back a glimmer of hope.
Our search for a marquee striker signing this summer has been exciting, frustrating and unnecessarily public.
Last week it seemed we had failed in our attempts to sign AC Milan striker Carlos Bacca, with the 29-year-old believed to be unwilling to join a club not competing in next season’s Champions League.
That was always going to be our achilles heel this summer, and it always felt as if our ambitious hunt for a big name would end in vein due to us not boasting Champions League football.
However, with Ateltico Madrid and Arsenal seemingly ending their interest in Bacca over the past seven days, it appears the striker only has one option left – West Ham.
According to Jack Sullivan, we have agreed a fee with AC Milan and Bacca is going to let us know his decision within 48 hours…

It’s a welcome twist, especially after David Sullivan’s recent admission of being frustrated with the lack of success in finding a striker this summer, with him all but admitting defeat in the process.
But now it looks as though our move for Bacca is back on. He also posted an Instagram photo on Wednesday, with the caption that translates to something like: “We went new new new new goals dreams illusions season COME ON COME ON.”
Read in to that what you will, but it suggests he has already prepared himself for an AC Milan exit and by the looks of his photo, is travelling somewhere with new goals in mind. Could it be East London?
