West Ham remain in talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a deal for goalkeeper Alphonse Areola, according to French news outlet L’Equipe.
With Gianluigi Donnarumma expected to join PSG this month, Areola’s future in the French capital appears to be coming to an end, having enjoyed an impressive loan spell at Fulham last term.
It was reported last week that West Ham were interested in signing the shot-stopper on loan with a view to making the deal permanent next summer. But L’Equipe’s report claims PSG are only interested in a permanent deal this summer, while the Hammers continue to push for an initial loan.
With Lukasz Fabianski heading into to his final year at London Stadium, bringing in another goalkeeper this summer makes sense, although it’s not a huge priority.
Areola’s form for Fulham, despite them being relegated, caught the eye of many last season and so it’s no surprise David Moyes is hoping to bring him back to London.
Following on from this latest update coming out of France, here’s what West Ham fans have saying about it on Twitter…
Hope it’s true, this shows clever business and real intent. If I remember rightly Moyes spoke of him during the season or when we played Fulham.

Well this will absolutely go to plan and there’s absolutely no chance another club won’t swoop in and meet their demands, whilst we fondle around for loose change. Good stuff.

I have learned from my mistakes getting hyped about signings. Until he’s on the pitch I do not believe it lol. 😂⚒

Hopefully they accept a loan to buy deal for the right buyout or they give us a price we will pay ✍🏼⚒
