West Ham will receive a windfall of just over £7million if they achieve their goal of finishing in the top 10 this season, according to Sports Direct News.
The club’s impressive start to their first season back in the Premier League means the initial target of finishing 15th as been replaced with a revised target of finishing 10th, increasing the possible prize money from £3.9million to £7.15million.
The club believes that leapfrogging Fulham and Southampton in the top half of the table is highly achievable and is aiming to maximise their prize money come the end of the campaign, which will add to the increased TV money income that arrives next season as well.
The Premier League pays clubs £650,000 per league position, which means that even if the Hammers remain in 12th place at the end of the season, they’ll still receive a tidy £5.2million.
