West Ham are in talks about a six-month loan deal for Roma striker Marco Borriello, according to several reports.

The 31-year-old striker has struggled for game time at the Stadio Olimpico this season, making just 11 appearances and scoring one goal.

And it is believed Roma’s sporting director Walter Sabatini was in London over the weekend discussing a potential loan move to the Boleyn Ground with West Ham officials.

Borriello has recently been linked with a January move to Tottenham but it appears Sam Allardyce has become the favourite to bag the Italian striker in the coming weeks.

Borriello began his career with AC Milan in 2001 but was sent out on loan to seven different clubs before signing for Roma on a permanent basis for €10million in 2010.

The Italian international has since had spells at Juventus and Genoa, and looks set to embark on a tenth loan move of his career.
