West Ham have joined Cardiff City in the race for experienced Argentina striker Javier Saviola, according to the Daily Star.
The former Real Madrid and Barcelona striker is a free agent after being released by Malaga last season and reports in Spain are suggesting that the Hammers and newly promoted Cardiff are interested in bringing him to England for the first time.
Saviola, who’s impressive career spans 15 years, made his name at Barcelona when he scored 49 goals in 123 La Liga appearances. He then enjoyed loan spells with Monaco and Sevilla before signing for Real Madrid in 2007.
Spells with Benfica and Malaga followed before what could be a switch to the Premier League for the first time in his career.
The 31-year-old hit man also has 40 caps for Argentina, scoring 11 goals.
