West Ham made an official bid for Leeds United captain Ross McCormack, according to Sky Sports.

The 27-year-old is the Championship’s top-scorer with 18 goals so far this season and is reportedly a target for a host of Premier League clubs.

But Leeds tied him down to a four-year contract in the summer following approaches from Blackpool and Middlesbrough, seemingly boosting his value.

But with the Hammers battling relegation in the Premier League, it is thought Sam Allardyce sees the Scotland International as an important addition to his squad as he prepares for a number of difficult fixtures in the tail end of the season.

It is not yet known how much the Hammers have offered Leeds for McCormack’s services but, if they can manage to lure him away from Elland Road, he’d certainly be a welcome boost to what has been a misfiring West Ham attack this season.
