West Ham’s turbulent spell under Graham Potter already feels like a distant memory, though the scars of his short reign remain fresh at the London Stadium.
Appointed midway through last season to steady the ship, Potter could only lead the Hammers to a disappointing 14th-place finish.
A dreadful start to the new campaign saw him dismissed in September, with the club sitting 19th and looking devoid of confidence or direction.
After one of the least successful managerial stints in West Ham’s modern era, few might have expected Potter to be in line for another high-profile role so soon.
Yet it now appears the 50-year-old could be set for a swift return to management — this time on the international stage.
Potter Interested in Sweden Job

In a twist nobody saw coming, Potter has publicly expressed interest in becoming Sweden’s next head coach.
Sweden parted ways with Jon Dahl Tomasson earlier this week after a disastrous start to their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign, leaving them bottom of Group B with just one point from four games.
Potter, who was sacked by West Ham last month after only eight months in charge, has strong ties to Swedish football, having managed Östersunds FK from 2011 to 2018 — taking them from the fourth tier to the Allsvenskan and even lifting the Swedish Cup in 2017.
|I’m actually in Sweden right now, in my house in Sweden,” Potter told Fotbollskanalen, per BBC Sport. “I’m between jobs and just left the Premier League.”
“I’m open to anything, really, where I feel I can help,” he added. “The job as head coach of the Swedish national team is fantastic. I have feelings for Sweden. I love the country and I love Swedish football. I have a lot to be grateful for towards Swedish football.
“So yes, it would be a fantastic opportunity for me, obviously.”
Given his history and success in the country, many in Sweden view Potter as a natural candidate. And while his Premier League ventures at Chelsea and West Ham proved ill-fated, a return to more familiar surroundings could offer him the perfect chance to rebuild his reputation.
