West Ham have plenty of work to do in the summer transfer market after a disappointing few seasons and the club is pushing ahead with their activity.

The Hammers have already welcomed the first signing of the Manuel Pellegrini era after capturing full-back Ryan Fredericks on a free transfer from newly-promoted Fulham.

Fredericks, who has been a top-target for the club in recent months, is the first of what fans will hope will be many arrivals – and they’ve received a boost following comments from the player.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Fredericks hinted that further additions are right around the corner.

“Everyone knows the history of West Ham, there’s a lot of factors that brought me to the club.”

“Obviously it’s exciting times for West Ham, just brought in the new manager, everyone knows his CV and what he has done in England before and in other leagues as well.”

“It’s exciting times, we’re going to be bringing in some other good players, and it just felt like the next step in my career.”
