The Hammers are reportedly interested in signing Lille winger Jonathon Ikone, and he would be a great signing for West Ham and David Moyes.

According to Italian outlet, Milanlive, both the Hammers and Everton are ‘seriously considering’ putting in an offer for the French international, showing that his prolific form in Ligue 1 has not gone unnoticed.

The 23-year-old is reportedly worth £22.5million, via Transfermarkt, but Ikone is in hot demand and could cost West Ham a much bigger fee than that. With Italian superpower AC Milan also interested, it could be a tough test for Moyes to secure his signature.

Having said that, West Ham’s ambitions and performances are growing on the pitch and now we are club that top players will be interested in looking at.

Last season, Ikone played a pivotal role in helping Lille secure their first French league title in a decade. The winger scored seven goals and produced seven assists in all competitions and was a creative spark within their attack.

Known for his quick agility, speed and ability to control the ball with his feet, Ikone would be a great fit in this West Ham team. He has a high level of work rate and would be able to cover a variety of positions going forward.

His only setback is that he could improve his finishing touches, but as a young player there is certainly time for improvement and he has shown his potential over the past couple of seasons.

Ikone would face competition to start in our side, given how well West Ham’s attackers are performing. The Hammers have scored 23 goals in 12 league games already, but his services will no doubt be useful going into the second half of the season.

If David Moyes did decide to pursue this transfer target, then the Hammers would definitely be better off than without. Perhaps the manager could work his magic and use him as a back-up for the prolific Antonio as a striker in the future.
