Highbury, Emirates, Wembley – it doesn’t matter, West Ham United have triumphed over Arsenal at them all.

There have been some memorable victories in clashes between the two over the years, and we’ve condensed it down to the top five Hammers victories.

Overall, there has been 142 meetings between the pair; West Ham winning 35, drawing 39 and losing 68. The first dates back to January 13, 1906 where they drew 1-1 in an FA Cup clash.

So, almost 115 years on – what have been the best wins for the Hammers? Take a look…

Arsenal 0-2 West Ham – August 9, 2015

Ah, the start of what was a magical 2015/16 Premier League campaign. Sure, Leicester City won the title in astonishing fashion, but the real story was West Ham pushing ever-so close to finishing in the top four.

Slaven Bilic’s first Premier League match in charge and what a performance it was at the Emirates. Dimitri Payet sparked his love-affair with the club with a breath-taking performance and goals from Cheikhou Kouyate and Mauro Zarate gifted the Hammers all three points.

West Ham 1-0 Arsenal – May 10, 1980

This one certainly needs no in-depth description. 1980 FA Cup Final; the Hammers were in Division Two at the time while Arsenal were in the top-flight, so it was fair to say West Ham were underdogs on the day.

But that didn’t matter. A performance inspired by captain Billy Bonds was enough to see the Hammers lift the trophy for the third time in the club’s history – Sir Trevor Brooking’s first-half goal ensured that.

West Ham 1-0 Arsenal – January 12, 2019

Declan Rice has rapidly established himself as one of West Ham’s most crucial components, and the England international is showing no intention of slowing down; his performance against Arsenal in 2019 was thoroughly impressive.

Aged 19, Rice scored his first goal for the club at London Stadium in a 1-0 victory against the Gunners, producing a Man of the Match display in the process. A memorable moment for the 21-year-old and he could easily become a legend in east London if he decides to stay.

Arsenal 2-3 West Ham – February 1, 2006

The last team to win at Highbury? Of course, it’s West Ham. This lively encounter in north London had all the ingredients of an entertaining spectacle, who knew the Hammers would be making history in the process.

Goals from Nigel Reo-Coker, Bobby Zamora and Matthew Etherington canceled out strikes from Thierry Henry and Robert Pires to ensure it would be the traveling fans celebrating.

Arsenal 0-1 West Ham – April 7, 2007

If being the last team to win at Highbury wasn’t enough, West Ham were also the first team to win at the Emirates back in 2007. The Hammers were fighting for survival and this 1-0 victory would be part of ‘The Great Escape’ that kept them in the Premier League.

Bobby Zamora scored the only goal of the afternoon, but Robert Green was the hero. Nothing was going to get past him and the former England international produced a masterclass to keep a clean sheet and guide West Ham to victory.
