As we sit 19th in the Premier League and try to erase the memory of being thrashed 5-0 by Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup, the owners and Sam Allardyce are supposedly busy trying to strengthen the squad.

Having witnessed what happened with the club’s transfer policy in the summer, there is understandably a real lack of optimism for a successful January window amongst the Hammers faithful.

But, with our injury list being the way it is, we all know how important it is to bring in some reinforcements to provide back up and help during a poor run of form and what looks to be a relegation dog-fight.

Enter Roger Johnson. The 30-year-old Wolves defender has been relegated three times in the last three years, but Allardyce has drafted him in as emergency cover at the back while James Tomkins, James Collins and Winston Reid remain sidelined through injury.

And both Hammers fans and neutral fans alike took to Twitter to voice either opinions on a rather bizarre and surprising move…

What are your thoughts on Roger Johnson’s arrival at the Boleyn Ground? Decent cover while we wait for our injured players to return, or a complete waste of time? Leave your thoughts in the comments box below.
