So he has gone. Mauro Zarate has joined QPR on loan until the end of the season and it’s a deal that is as frustrating as it is understandable.
There’s no doubting his ability, but so much has been made of his over-inflated ego off the pitch. He think’s he’s the world’s greatest, yet he’s now playing for QPR. You do the maths.
We’ve rapidly become QPR’s feeder club in recent seasons. They’ve got our former manager in Harry Redknapp. They’ve Hammers academy graduate Rio Ferdinand enjoying one last pay day with them, while Robert Green opted to leave us for them just after we were promoted a few years back.
And in the last year we’ve palmed our flops and tear aways off to them, and they’ve happily taken them on with mixed results. Modibo Maiga went on loan last season – because he was rubbish – scored on his QPR debut and then went missing just like he did with us.
Ravel Morrison threw a wobbly and joined Modibo, making a pretty decent impact before reportedly falling out with them as well. And now they’ve got Zarate who, if you believe the reports, has also thrown a wobbly.
Anyway, the fans aren’t best pleased with his departure, although some have gone about having a parting shot at the forward…

Bojan & Zarate were supposed to be the next big things and now they are at Stoke & QPR, so I am expecting Pato to end up at West Brom.

Zarate had a disgusting attitude. Good job we have shipped out an average fringe player on high wages. 1/2

@mau_zeta Zarate just don't look right in a QPR shirt. Sam never gave him a chance.

Mauro Zarate leaving for #QPR shouldn't be a big blow for #WHUFC. Bang average player minus Diamanti's haircut.

Zarate news isn't as bad as fans are making out. He's v greedy and rarely has the quality to justify it. Bad timing with ACON though #whufc
