West Ham are in the hunt for strikers again after failing to secure the signature of Maxi Gómez.

Sebastien Haller is one of the names which has been linked most recently, and ExWHUEmployee’s initial comment was encouraging.

Though his second put a dampener on the mood, as he isn’t convinced it will happen…

It is easy to understand why he isn’t overly enthused, especially when West Ham’s track record with signing strikers is considered.

However, the Hammers are certainly in need of one now, with Javier Hernández, Jordan Hugill and Xande Silva the only out and out strikers at the club, after the departures of Marko Arnautović, Andy Carroll and Lucas Pérez.

This means there are many West Ham fans who want to see the club sign someone quickly – it doesn’t seem as though that would be the case with Haller.

Eintracht Frankfurt have already sold Luka Jović to Real Madrid this summer, so even if the player was keen on leaving, it would be highly unlikely they would allow West Ham to take him without a fight.

While there was an initial excitement among West Ham fans about the move, it now seems as though some just want the club to move onto the next target to save time.
