West Ham United’s difficult start to the Premier League season continued over the weekend as they slumped to a 2–0 defeat against London rivals Arsenal.
Former Hammer Declan Rice came back to haunt his old club with a typically composed performance and a late goal, while Bukayo Saka’s penalty sealed all three points for the Gunners — moving them to the top of the table and plunging West Ham further into relegation trouble.
For Nuno Espirito Santo, it was a second game in charge without victory or a goal scored, and one notable absentee once again was Jean-Clair Todibo.
The French defender was left out of the squad for the second consecutive match, prompting speculation about his future in East London.
Now, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has shared a key update on the situation.
Romano Gives Todibo Future Update

Writing in his exclusive GIVEMESPORT newsletter, Fabrizio Romano has clarified the latest on Todibo’s situation at West Ham — and for now, fans have little reason to panic.
While the 24-year-old centre-back has struggled for minutes this season, with his last appearance coming in August’s Carabao Cup tie against Wolves, Romano insists there are no doubts about his future right now.
“Not at this stage [doubts over his future], but Italian clubs already called in the summer and are likely to return for Todibo in 2026,” Romano wrote.
According to the journalist, several Serie A sides made contact with West Ham over the summer to discuss the possibility of a future move, though no formal bids were tabled.
Todibo joined the Hammers permanently last summer after a successful loan spell but has so far found it difficult to adapt to the demands of Premier League football. Despite that, it appears the club are willing to give him time rather than rush into any decision before January.
