West Ham are seeking defensive additions in the summer transfer window but are not alone in the hunt for their prime targets.

The Hammers have already bolstered their back-line with the capture of Ryan Fredericks on a free transfer from newly-promoted Fulham but now want recruits to play in the heart of defence.

Toulouse ace Issa Diop has emerged as a target for Manuel Pellegrini’s side but West Ham will face competition in the market, as The Daily Mirror states Everton are also keen.

Diop, captain of France’s U21 side, is rated at around £25m and it’s reported that West Ham hold an advantage over their Premier League rivals, with it claimed the Hammers have agreed a deal in principle with the young defender.

However, other interest comes from the continent where Marseille, RB Leipzig and Monaco are all linked with his services and would be able to offer European football.
