Discussion: What about this for West Ham’s strongest XI?

Since the departure of Sam Allardyce and the swift arrival of Slaven Bilic, the progress that has been made at West Ham has been incredible so far.

Currently sitting pretty in fourth place in the Premier League , Bilic has installed a style of play that the magnificent Hammers fans adore and it’s also getting results as we have only tasted two league defeats so far in the 2015/2016 campaign.

However, you have to have the right players that will suit Bilic’s attacking style. On the basis of the evidence seen so far, no player in claret and blue has performed inadequately.

Scoring 20 goals in the first nine league games making West Ham the second highest goalscorers in the division lets every top flight team that we’re to be taken seriously.

With strength in depth at Upton Park, something that has been missing for several years, leaving good quality players is becoming even harder.

So, is this West Ham’s strongest XI?

Adrian

The Spaniard has now firmly become a Hammers favourite and has saved West Ham so many points over the past.

Not only is the former Real Betis keeper magnificent at shot stopping but also his communication in organising the back four and his distribution of the ball has also massively improved.

Carl Jenkinson

The on loan Arsenal right back has carried on where he left off last season with West Ham and as a result has doubled his goal career tally.

His pace on the wing frightens the opposition both defensively and offensively and is exactly what Bilic is looking for.

If the Hammers can grab Jenkinson on a permanent basis ahead of the move to the Olympic stadium then it would be a coup considering the full back won’t get regular first team chances with the Gunners.

Winston Reid

The fact Reid came close to leaving West Ham seven months ago was extremely worrying, but since putting pen to paper on a new five year deal has only done the New Zealand international captain and the team good.

Probably the fastest Premier league centre half, the 26-year-old has become an established defender in England’s top flight (Who could forget Reid’s unforgettable debut five years ago in the 3-0 loss away at Aston Villa where Ashley Young destroyed him!)

Angelo Ogbonna

Singing a player for £8.6m from the Serie A champions Juventus where he played a significant part not only in domestic football but also in the Champions League just shows the intent and ambition of West ham.

Despite recently picking up an injury, Ogbonna is extremely similar to Reid and forms a solid partnership.

However, having the choice of James Tomkins or James Collins to replace him just shows the quality Bilic has added to the squad.

Aaron Cresswell

After playing every minute of last season and winning the Hammer of the Year award last season, Cresswell is still the first choice left back at the Boleyn Ground with no stiff competition challenging him.

Despite one derisory performance in the 4-3 home defeat at the hands of newly promoted AFC Bournemouth, Cresswell has forgotten about that quickly and is back to his old self.

It’s just a shame that Roy Hodgson hasn’t seen him play yet!

Victor Moses

The on loan Chelsea attacker has only been with West Ham a short time, but scoring once and making three assists in his first six games speaks for itself.

Blessed with pace, flair, agility and strength the Nigerian international is now a vital part of the squad and is keeping the new recruit Michail Antonio out of the team.

Mark Noble

Since becoming the new captain of his beloved side, Noble has been nothing short of instrumental in the heart of the midfield.

As the most fouled player in the league, the former England U21 international’s eye for a pass and control of play means West Ham’s Premier League record appearance maker is the first name on Slaven Bilic’s team sheet.

Cheikhou Kouyate

The box-to-box Senegalese midfielder’s stamina and work ethic is exactly what the Hammers want to see from every player in claret and blue.

With three goals already under his belt, the former Anderlecht powerhouse is also capable of notching important goals at crucial times of the game, much like Manchester City’s Yaya Toure.

Dimitri Payet

Where do we start with Payet. Arguably the signing of the season so far the French playmaker has already got the fans chanting a new song ‘We’ve got Payet, Dimitri Payet, I just don’t think you understand, he’s super Slav’s man, he’s better than Zidane, we’ve got Dimitri Payet.”

The former Marseille man has created more chances than any player in the Premier League and already has four goals and four assists for the Hammers this season.

At £10.7m, it is one of the bargains of the season.

Diafra Sakho

With the plethora of strikers at the helm not even the likes of Andy Carroll, Mauro Zarate or new addition and Bilic’s fellow countryman Nikica Jelavic can get a starting place.

Sakho is still the Hammers’ main attacking threat and will remain that way on the basis of the way he bullies opposition defenders and finds the net (especially when he plays in September as he has six goals in six games in that month over the past two season).
[interaction id=“none”]

Enner Valencia

Despite still recovering from a serious knee injury he picked up in the 2-2 Europa League qualifying round against FC Astra, Valencia’s partnership with Sakho is a very deadly one for the opposition.

Although the Ecuadorian is no the biggest in stature, his work ethic and pace means he is on the end of Sakho’s underrated heading abilities and the telepathic connection between Sakho and Valencia is a fantastic one for West Ham to have.
