West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice has launched a defence for his fellow Premier League companion Paul Pogba, claiming he is ‘one of the best in the world‘.
The France international – who helped his country lift the World Cup in 2018 – has often received criticism from fans and pundits since he returned to Old Trafford back in 2016.
The 27-year-old has suffered with an ankle injury since Boxing day, which has kept him out of action and people started to question his commitment and attitude towards the club.
However, following an Instagram post from ‘thresixtytv‘ which shared Souness’ reply to Pogba to ‘put his medals on the table’ after the midfielder claimed to not know who he was, Rice commented: “Why do people hate on Pogba? Don’t make any sense.
“The guy is ridiculous, one of the best in the world. You think he wants to be injured? Some things in football you can’t prevent.”
And it sparked plenty of reaction on social media…
