West Ham United part chairman David Gold has tweeted that the club have a number of talented teenagers.
This tweet comes shortly after David Gold tweeted to say that it is unlikely for a teenager to break into the senior team which is full of “seasoned internationals”.
The initial tweet caused an uproar on social media with West Ham fans furious at Gold’s dismissive comments.
Citing success stories like Manchester United and England star Marcus Rashford, Hammers’ fans questioned why the likes of Declan Rice, Antonio Martinez and Domingos Quina had not been handed more opportunities in the first team.
David Gold has received a lot of criticism since that tweet and he has now moved to alleviate some of the pressure on him by praising the teenagers.
Declan Rice did eventually get a brief cameo on the final day against Burnley and now Gold has claimed that the teenagers are very talented.
“We think we have the best group of teenagers for over a decade.”
He also added that “time will tell” as West Ham hold high hopes for the likes of Quina, Martinez and Rice as well as Dan Kemp, Nathan Trott, Reece Oxford, Reece Burke and others.
