Britain’s Got Talent 2014 finalist, James Smith, has called on West Ham’s Declan Rice to join him for a duet in the future.

The east London-born singer/songwriter is a massive Hammer and was speaking on the latest episode of the We Are West Ham Podcast this week, talking all things West Ham and giving an insight into his growing music career.

Rice has become one of the most popular players in England over the last few years, thanks to his developement into one of Europe’s best defensive midfielders. Last week his Instagram following reached 1million, which just shows how popular he is as a player and a character off the pitch.

Rice was the centre-piece of the ‘West Ham band’, which was ‘formed’ during a goal celebration after Jesse Lingard smashed in the winner during a home win over Tottenham earlier this year.

The prompted the question for Smith; which player in the current West Ham squad would you like to do a duet with most? His answer? Declan Rice, obviously.

Smith said on the We Are West Ham Podcast: “I think Declan Rice, he’s such a character.

“I don’t know whether you’ve seen him with Chunkz and all their channels, they’re all mates and they’re a proper laugh.

“I reckon he’s rubbish [at singing] as well, so I’d love to see Declan Rice give a little sing-song. That would be hilarious.

Smith’s latest single, Got The Love, is out now, while he’s also working on his debut album. Perhaps Rice might make a cameo appearance with a special bonus track?
