Jack Collison hopes to take advantage of his month-long emergency loan at AFC Bournemouth in an attempt to force his way in to Sam Allardyce’s first-team plans.
The 25-year-old midfielder joined the Cherries on Tuesday afternoon and went straight in to the starting XI to face Leeds United at Elland Road in the Championship.
And Collison believes the opportunity to play regular football was too hard to turn down after only making one Premier League appearance off the bench for the Hammers so far this season.
He told BBC Radio Solent: “I haven’t been involved as much as I would have liked, so it’s a good opportunity for me to come here and show what I can do.
“I wasn’t on the bench for West Ham at the weekend and the opportunity to come here arose. It’s a fantastic club, which is on the up, and hopefully I can help them and they can help me.
“Hopefully I can come back fitter and sharper and ready to do the business.”
Meanwhile, Jordan Spence has returned from his month-long loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday after starting four games for the Owls.
