Carlton Cole has slammed the club’s decision to post a match report of their 9-0 friendly win over Gillingham on the official website and on social networks such as Twitter and Facebook.

A West Ham United XI faced a Gillingham XI in a behind closed doors game on Tuesday afternoon, with the likes of Alou Diarra, Matt Jarvis, George McCartney, Modibo Maiga, Adrian and Carlton Cole all being given valuable game time alongside the club’s Developement Squad starlets.

But Cole, who has only just re-signed for the Hammers after initially leaving in the summer, thought the club’s decision to publicise the thumping was humiliating for the younger players of the Gillingham side.

The club initially tweeted:

But Cole responded shortly after, labelling the friendly as a “poor game”, before deleting the tweet:
