Joe Cole has admitted he would love to play at Wembley for West Ham.
The 31-year-old midfielder, currently in his second spell at Upton Park, believes the club has what it takes to reach a cup final and hopes to achieve his dream of playing at Wembley with his boyhood club before his career comes to an end.
And, speaking after the club’s 3-0 friendly victory over Boreham Wood last night, Cole believes the domestic cup achievements of Wigan Athletic and Swansea City last season can spur West Ham on to try and do the same.
He told Sky Sports News: “I think the ambition of the club at the moment is improvement.
“But for me personally, I would love to finish better than 10th but I would love to take this club to Wembley.
“You look at Swansea and Wigan last season and that is their day, we would like a bit of that because it has been such a long time since West Ham been there, so that would be nice.”
And Cole admitted a trip to Wembley with the Hammers would be one of the highlights of his much-travelled career.
“At the end of the day, they are the days you remember in your career,” he added.
“It would be a massive achievement.”
