Dimitri Payet is already becoming something of a cult hero at West Ham.
The Frenchman has only been at the club a few months and the performances he’s put in so far have had us wondering how on earth we managed to tempt him to east London. Put simply, he’s absolutely class.
After seven games in the Premier League, Payet has already scored three and assisted three.
But he could’ve had a lot more by now. That’s because he’s up there with the very best in the league when it comes to creating goal scoring chances.
In the 2-0 home win over Newcastle, Payet created seven chances, which was the second most by a player in single Premier League game this season, behind only Mesut Ozil against Stoke earlier in the campaign.
But against Norwich Payet went one better by creating eight chances, joining Ozil at the top of the Premier League record books this season…
And Payet also joins Arsenal duo Ozil and Santi Cazorla in the record books for most chances created so far this season in the Premier League, all three with 27 to their name already. Chelsea’s Eden Hazard is just behind them with 26…
So there you have it. We’re not just rubbing shoulders with the big boys in the league table, our best player is also doing the same with the league’s best players.
£10.7million seems like a right bargain at the moment, doesn’t it?
