Chelsea have made contact over the possible permanent signing of Andy Carroll, Sky Sports News is reporting.

Andy Carroll has been linked with Chelsea for a while and this rumour is now starting to pick up pace as Chelsea look to upgrade on Michy Batshuayi.

Sevilla want to sign Batshuayi and the Hammers are also interested so he could become part of a deal which sees Carroll head to Stamford Bridge.

Antonio Conte wants another striker to come in and compete with misfiring summer arrival Alvaro Morata and he sees Carroll as the perfect fit.

The 9-cap England international has had his injury struggles and is currently sidelined, keeping him out of tonight’s FA Cup clash with Shrewsbury Town.

West Ham are not hopeful of keeping him and they fear that his head has been turned by this potential move, according to The Mirror.

But the Irons will hold out for a sizeable transfer fee and will not sanction a loan deal for the physical centre forward either, the London Evening Standard reports.

Carroll only has two goals this season – both of which came in the 2-1 win over West Brom – as he continues to struggle with injury concerns.

The 29-year-old, formerly of Newcastle and Liverpool, is seen as a different dimension that Conte could use.
