Andy Carroll has dropped the biggest hint yet that his long awaited return from injury is just around the corner.

Co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan, and manager Sam Allardyce, have all admitted in recent weeks that a definitive date for Carroll’s return from a foot injury is yet to be decided on, but have admitted that they expect it to be some time in January.

And Carroll today tweeted the words every West Ham fan across the globe had been longing to hear, although it still keeps us all guessing at the exact date we can expect to see the big man back in claret and blue.

Can we expect to see him named in the squad for the New Year’s Day trip to Fulham, or will Allardyce give him a run out in the FA Cup third round meeting with Nottingham Forest?

Allardyce continually insists that he will not rush him back in to first team action but, with the way we’re currently struggling with injuries and desperate for a run of results to pull us away from the Premier League drop zone, he may find that he won’t have a choice.

When do you think Carroll will make his return to the first-team? Should Sam risk rushing him back? Or should we continue to be patient to prevent any chance of a recurrence of his foot injury?
