As West Ham fans, we all know that it takes a strong heart to get ourselves through a relegation battle what seems like every single season in the Premier League.
And, despite seeing a bunch of good players arrive at the club this summer, it appears we may be heading for yet another bumpy ride in the top-flight, narrowly avoiding the drop and wondering how on earth we’re ever going to attract the big money investment the current board continuously speak of after we’ve moved to the Olympic Stadium.
According to Bloomberg Sports’ impressive super computer, we’ll just about survive relegation by the skin of our teeth – by 2.2 points to be exact. They do, however, predict that we’ll finish 12th, which I for one would happily take right now if it meant not having to go through the suffering a relegation ultimately brings us throughout a nine month period.
They give us a 17.4% chance of going down, which is 17.4% too much for my liking, and a big fat 0.0% chance of finishing in the top four, which my dead goldfish could’ve told you without having to use a ‘super computer.’
That said, back in March, Bloomberg Sports’ computer predicted we’d finish 12th with just over 40 points when we were battling relegation with 31 points on the board. They were ultimately bang on the money, with us finishing 13th with 41 points.
So, do we have a real reason to be worried this season?
