It feels like an age since the club announced Sam Allardyce’s contract wasn’t going to be renewed.

But now, just two weeks later, we’re about to learn who his successor is.

Looking back it’s been something of an ordeal for us fans. The excitement surrounding Unai Emery, the disappointment when we heard Steve McClaren had been approached… you literally couldn’t find to managers further away from each other in terms of pedigree and, put simply, ability to execute the current project in hand at the club.

But now we’re just 48 hours (or less) from learning who it is. I’m finding it hard to contain my excitement while writing this.

Along with that, we’re also expected to announce a couple of new signings this week, both of which are very exciting additions if we can pull them off.

So here’s an update on today’s big (and little) stories…

Manager? What is manager?

The club have announced they will be making an announcement on a new manager within the next 48 hours.

No idea what a ‘manager’ is, but lots of people are excited it to be Slaven Bilic while others want Marcelo Bielsa.

We haven’t had a manager in just over two weeks and it’s already become an alien thing to have. What does it feel like to have a manager again?

Obiang – is he coming or not?

Last week the Sampdoria powerhouse had agreed a deal to sign for us, but today it was suggested AC Milan had turned up, bundled him in to the back of a van and forced him to sign for them instead.*

It always happens to us, doesn’t it?

But rumours this evening have no mention of AC Milan and still have the Spanish wonderkid within days of being announced as a West Ham player

So nobody really knows what’s happening at the moment.

All I know is that if we do get him then a potential central midfield of Kouyate and Obiang is a pretty exciting prospect.

*That didn’t actually happened, but AC Milan were reported to have beaten us to Obiang’s signature.

Andre Ayew – Mental if true…

Andre Ayew has apparently chosen to sign for us instead of Tottenham. LOL!

If Lee Clayton of the Daily Mail is on the money (he normally is) then we’ve got ourselves once hell of a forward in Andre Ayew.

Pipe down, Harry…

Harry Redknapp on Twitter is, quite possible, the most ridiculous thing to happen since Sam Allardyce claimed he could manage Real Madrid.

But he’s now used everyone’s favourite social network to have a dig at that infamous Hammers fan who didn’t rate Frank Lampard back when Frank was a wee 17-year-old at the club.

And then, if that wasn’t pointless enough, Redknapp then piped up and claimed he should be our director of football and Rio Ferdinand should be our next manager…

“I’d like to see him as manager of West Ham. I’d go with him as director of football, that would be a good partnership.

“I’d love to see him get the opportunity somewhere, he’s young and enthusiastic.

“It wouldn’t be that ridiculous for West Ham to appoint Rio.”

No one really cares what you think, Harry.

A glamorous summer ahead…

The club announced a couple more pre-season friendlies today…

So in between our trips to the likes of Kazakhstan, Gibraltar and Estonia in the Europa League, we can also look forward to playing Peterborough, Colchester, Southend, Charlton and Norwich.

Wonderful.

And finally…

Happy Birthday to former West Ham player Javier Mascherano…

He may have just won the Champions League with Barcelona, but he’ll always be known as the player who was kept out of the side by Hayden Mullins at West Ham.
