West Ham centre back Angelo Ogbonna has provided a fresh update for Hammers fans following his season-ending injury.

The Italian defender took to Twitter on Monday night to share a video with West Ham supporters, marking his progress in his mission to get back onto the football pitch as soon as possible.

The motivational video showed Ogbonna back in the gym and working out, leaving plenty for fans to get excited about as we move towards the end of the campaign.

After picking up an ACL tear in West Ham’s win against Liverpool in November, Ogbonna underwent season-ending surgery to allow his knee to recover properly.

However, now there are hopefuls amongst West Ham supporters who believe the 33-year-old could make it back into the squad before the campaign finishes at the end of May.

Ogbonna is a crucial member of the West Ham squad, and created a formidable partnership alongside summer signing Kurt Zouma before his serious injury.

Craig Dawson has done an excellent job as a stand-in for the out-of-action defender, but having that squad depth and extra reinforcements could help the Hammers go further in the Europa League and achieve a strong, top-six finish in the Premier League.

Ogbonna still has a long way to go yet in his recovery, and he shouldn’t rush it, however his services could prove vital going into the latter stages of the campaign.

This exciting news from the fan favourite will definitely uplift West Ham fans, and hopefully, he is back on the pitch in no time.
