West Ham continue to be active in the transfer market and a new forward is understood to be top of Manuel Pellegrini’s wish-list.

The Hammers lack options in the final third following the injury setback sustained by Andy Carroll and saw Javier Hernandez struggle for consistency in his first campaign at the London Stadium.

That has left West Ham linked with a number of targets in the market, including Roma’s Gregoire Defrel, but The Croydon Guardian has bad news for the Hammers – and other English clubs.

It is stated that 27-year-old Defrel has snubbed the opportunity of a move to the Premier League as he seeks to remain in Italian football, with a move to Sampdoria now on the cards.

Crystal Palace, Newcastle United and Everton were also stated to have an interest in the forward, who earned just 15 league appearances last term for Roma after signing from Sassuolo in 2017.
