I suppose it just had to happen at some point, didn’t it?
About eight years on from that fateful season that saw Carlos Tevez all but single handedly keep West Ham in the Premier League at the apparent expense of Sheffield United, we’ve drawn each other in the Capital One Cup second round – at the Boleyn Ground as well!
We all know the story behind Sheffield United’s tears and the compensation we were forced to pay them. Where that money went, god only knows, but as we enjoy Premier League life, they sit slumped down in League One.
Tevez will remain a Hammers hero to us. To them, not so much. Shame, isn’t it?
And, because of all that, this tie has as much as about it as it does an opening day fixture against Spurs. They hate us, we don’t really care about them. But it’s fun taking the mickey along the way.
So here’s the best tweets that followed tonight’s draw…

If Sam Allardyce can somehow find a way to piss of Sheff Utd fans as much as he's pissed off West Ham fans I will forgive him everything.
