Sam Allardyce sees Heerenveen striker Alfred Finnbogason as the answer to West Ham’s goal scoring woes this season, reports the Express.

The 24-year-old Iceland international has scored 38 Eredivise goals in 42 appearances for the Dutch outfit since the beginning of last season, and is currently the top scorer in Holland’s Premier League with 16 in 13 outings so far this campaign.

And Allardyce has sent scouts to watch over Finnbogason this season with a possible view of bringing him to the Premier League in January in order help fill the void left by injured striker Andy Carroll, and the ongoing shortfall of goals from stand-in strikers Mladen Petric and Carlton Cole.

Newcastle are also believed to be interested in the £5million rated striker.
