West Ham could make an official move for Tammy Abraham in the next few weeks, according to club insider ExWHUemployee.
West Ham have been consistently linked with the Chelsea striker this transfer window as David Moyes seeks another striker to assist Michail Antonio up front next season.
It was initially believed Chelsea’s £40m price tag would put West Ham off from making a move but, according to Football Insider earlier this month, it might take a bid closer to £30m for the Blues to part ways with their top scorer.
Whatsmore, ExWHUemployee revealed that Abraham is indeed keen on a move to east London if the opportunity does present itself this summer.
On this West Ham Way podcast, Ex said: “For the forward position, Tammy Abraham.
“Apparently Abraham is keen on a move to West Ham. He likes Declan, he likes some of the other players in the squad and obviously, he’s a London boy… so I think he is tempted to come to West Ham.
“And obviously Moyes likes him a lot so we might see some movement on that in the next few weeks.”
It is a promising development for us Hammers fans to hear, for sure, as we desperately await the arrival of reinforcements ahead of our first ever season in the Europa League group stages.
Tammy Abraham would arrive with bags of Premier League and European experience from his time in west London and would also come on the back of some very impressive form before new Blues boss Thomas Tuchel froze him out of his plans in the second half of last season.
Before Tuchel’s arrival, the striker had 11 goals and six assists from 23 appearances in all competitions but ended the campaign by adding just one more goal from nine additional first-team appearances under the German boss.
Despite still finishing the season as Chelsea’s top scorer, the way in which Tuchel froze the striker out has led to increased reports that Abraham will leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
And it does appear that West Ham are about to make the first move for the 23-year-old, whose record in the Premier League currently stands at 26 goals and eight assists in 89 appearances.
