Things are finally starting to click for West Ham United. After months of frustration, the Hammers appear to be finding momentum at exactly the right time.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have now won three games in a row across all competitions, beginning with an FA Cup third-round victory over QPR, followed by back-to-back Premier League wins against Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland.

Suddenly, survival no longer feels like a distant dream — even if West Ham remain stuck in the relegation zone for now.

Next up is a daunting trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea, as Nuno looks to keep the good run going.

And in a twist of timing that feels almost poetic, one Blues defender could be preparing to swap west London for east London just a day before that clash.

West Ham’s latest January addition appears to be edging closer, with Fabrizio Romano revealing that Axel Disasi is on the verge of joining the Hammers.

According to the Italian transfer expert, the 27-year-old France international has agreed to move to the London Stadium on loan for the remainder of the season from Chelsea, with talks now at an advanced stage.

Disasi, once labelled “brilliant” by Jamie Carragher, has found himself surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge after being frozen out of Chelsea’s first-team plans this season. He spent the second half of the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Aston Villa, where he made 10 appearances in all competitions and showed glimpses of his quality.

Romano confirmed the development on social media, saying: “Axel Disasi, close to joining West Ham on loan deal from Chelsea as talks advance to final stages.

“Disasi was never close to joining Italian clubs despite several reports and West Ham are now accelerating.”

While Disasi’s Chelsea career has stalled, there is no doubting his pedigree. A regular for France at international level and previously a standout performer in Ligue 1, the defender brings experience, physicality, and composure — attributes West Ham have sorely lacked at the back this season.

Defensive frailties remain the Hammers’ biggest concern despite their recent upturn in form, and although Disasi is no longer wanted at Chelsea, he has already proven he can perform at a high level for both club and country. If completed, this deal would represent a timely and welcome boost as Nuno looks to drag West Ham out of trouble.
